Segmented ball valve manufacturers

Segmented ball valves, also known as ball sector valves, use a V-shaped or contoured opening in the ball element to achieve both tight shut-off and stable modulating control. The segmented flow path produces a predictable control characteristic, making these valves suitable for applications requiring accurate throttling rather than only open/close operation. The quarter-turn rotary movement enables compact installation and fast response.

Valve body, trim, and seat materials are selected based on process media and operating conditions. Metal-seated designs are used for abrasive, high-temperature, or high-pressure services, while soft-seated versions provide lower torque and high shut-off tightness. These valves are typically automated with pneumatic or electric actuators and paired with positioners for precise control.

Segmented ball valves are used in pulp and paper stock handling, chemical and petrochemical systems, power generation, and general industrial control loops where reliable sealing, high rangeability, and long service life under variable flow conditions are important. Proper selection considers trim geometry, flow coefficient, seat construction, actuator sizing, and compatibility with the process media.
