Safety valve manufacturers
Safety valves provide emergency overpressure protection by opening automatically when system pressure rises above a defined setpoint and releasing the pressure to a safe discharge point, typically to atmosphere. They are designed to open rapidly and completely, preventing dangerous pressure buildup that could lead to equipment damage or unsafe conditions. Safety valves act as final protective devices rather than process control components.
Safety valves are commonly used in steam and gas systems, where fast and full venting is required, but they are also applied to liquid service when direct and rapid pressure release is necessary and backpressure control or closed return piping is not suitable. Construction materials, seat design, and temperature ratings are selected to withstand the thermal and mechanical stresses of the operating environment.
Typical applications include boilers, steam distribution networks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, gas storage systems, and liquid systems where sudden overpressure is possible. Proper selection considers certified set pressure, required relief capacity, discharge direction and silencing requirements, temperature limits, installation orientation, and compliance with standards such as ASME or ISO.
