Rotary plug valve manufacturers
Rotary plug valves use a rotating cylindrical plug with a contoured flow passage to control flow. The plug rotates typically 90 degrees between open and closed positions, and the shape of the internal passage allows stable and predictable flow characteristics, making these valves suitable for both on/off and modulating service. The rotating motion provides smooth operation with relatively low wear compared to sliding shut-off mechanisms.
The valve body, plug geometry, and seat materials are selected based on the process media, temperature, and required sealing performance. Rotary plug valves may include special anti-cavitation or noise-reduction trims for demanding service conditions. Actuation can be manual or automated using pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuators, depending on cycling frequency and control requirements.
Rotary plug valves are used in chemical processing, pulp and paper systems, power generation, and general process control applications where reliable shut-off and good control rangeability are needed. Proper selection considers flow coefficient, trim design, pressure drop, media compatibility, and whether the service requires throttling performance or simple isolation.
