Positioner manufacturers
Positioners are control devices used to ensure that a valve actuator reaches and maintains the correct position in response to a control signal. The positioner compares the input signal with the actual valve position and adjusts the actuator pressure accordingly. This allows accurate and stable control, especially in systems where friction, varying pressure, or changing process conditions could otherwise cause positioning errors.
Positioners are available in pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, and digital (smart) configurations. Pneumatic units use only air signals, while electro-pneumatic units convert electrical signals to pneumatic output. Digital positioners include internal microprocessors that provide advanced tuning, diagnostics, feedback, and communication over fieldbus or analog networks, improving control accuracy and maintenance visibility.
Positioners are used in modulating control applications with globe valves, rotary plug valves, ball valves, and butterfly valves in chemical processing, energy and steam systems, water treatment, refinery units, and general process automation. Proper selection considers actuator type, control signal form, desired accuracy, air supply quality, environmental conditions, and integration with plant control systems.
