Plug valve manufacturers
Plug valves use a cylindrical or tapered plug with a through-passage to start or stop flow with a 90-degree rotation. The full and straight flow path minimizes areas where solids can accumulate, making plug valves suitable for fluids containing suspended solids or media that may crystallize or solidify during operation. The broad sealing surfaces provide reliable shut-off when materials and seat designs are matched to the service conditions.
Plug valves are available in lubricated and non-lubricated designs. Lubricated plug valves use sealing compound to reduce friction and improve sealing performance in demanding or dirty service. Non-lubricated valves use polymer or elastomer liners and are suited for general industrial processes. Plug valves can also be configured for throttling or control service when appropriate trim and actuator setups are used.
Typical application areas include chemical processing, oil and gas production, slurry handling, wastewater treatment, and systems where fluids may contain solids or where crystallization is possible. Selection considers torque requirements, media compatibility, operating temperature and pressure, cycling frequency, and whether modulating control performance is needed in addition to shut-off.
