Gate valve manufacturers
Gate valves use a sliding gate or wedge to open and close the flow path with minimal pressure loss when fully open. The gate moves perpendicular to the flow and seats against the body to shut off flow. Because of the design, gate valves are typically used in applications where the valve operates fully open or fully closed; partially open positions can lead to seat wear and flow instability.
Gate valves are available in various wedge and seat configurations to suit different pressure and temperature conditions. They are commonly built from carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy materials and may be equipped with rising or non-rising stems, depending on space and visibility requirements. Actuation can be manual, pneumatic, electric, or gear-assisted depending on line pressure and operating frequency.
Gate valves are widely used in steam systems, refinery and petrochemical piping, power generation units, water distribution networks, and general process service where a full-bore flow path and low pressure drop are needed. Proper selection considers pressure class, flange standards, packing arrangement, and compatibility with the process conditions.
