Foot valve manufacturers
Foot valves are check valves installed at the suction side of pumps to maintain prime and prevent backflow when the pump is stopped. They are typically equipped with a strainer to prevent debris from entering the suction line. When the pump starts, the valve opens to allow flow; when the pump stops, the valve closes to keep the suction line filled and avoid the need for re-priming.
Foot valves are commonly used in water supply systems, irrigation lines, surface water pumping, and industrial utility water circuits. They are selected based on flow capacity, pressure rating, strainer mesh size, and the cleanliness of the water source. The body and strainer materials must be compatible with the pumped fluid and any sediment or suspended solids it may contain.
Reliable operation depends on proper installation at the lowest point of the suction line and ensuring adequate submergence to avoid air entrainment. Periodic inspection and cleaning of the strainer are required in applications where debris or biological growth may accumulate.
