Flame arrester manufacturers
Flame arresters prevent flame propagation through piping, vents, or equipment where flammable gases or vapors are present. They contain a specially designed element that absorbs heat from an approaching flame front, reducing its temperature below the point required for ignition. This allows gas flow while preventing a flame from traveling past the arrester and igniting upstream or downstream sections of the system.
Flame arresters are available in end-of-line and inline configurations. End-of-line arresters are typically installed on tank vents and atmospheric openings, while inline arresters are installed in process pipelines and vapor recovery lines. The arresting element may be a crimped metal matrix, wound metal ribbon, or sintered metal core, selected based on gas group, operating pressure, and cleaning requirements.
Common applications include storage tank vent systems, solvent recovery lines, biogas and landfill gas systems, fuel vapor piping, flare headers, and chemical process equipment where explosion protection is required. Correct selection considers gas composition, maximum experimental safe gap (MESG), operating temperature, pressure drop, and whether deflagration or detonation protection is required.
