Desuperheater manufacturers
Desuperheaters are used to reduce the temperature of superheated steam by injecting a finely controlled amount of cooling water directly into the steam flow. The injected water absorbs heat during vaporization, lowering the steam temperature to the required setpoint without condensing it to saturated conditions. The process requires stable atomization and proper mixing to avoid droplet carryover or wall wetting.
Desuperheaters can be of mechanical spray type, steam-assisted atomizing type, or venturi-style inline designs, depending on steam velocity, turndown requirement, and control accuracy. They are typically used together with a control valve that adjusts the cooling water flow based on temperature feedback from downstream instrumentation.
Applications include power generation, refinery and petrochemical steam networks, district heating systems, and industrial process steam circuits where precise temperature control is required for equipment protection, heat exchanger efficiency, turbine inlet conditioning, or downstream process stability. Correct sizing considers steam flow variation, pressure drop, nozzle design, and available cooling water conditions.
