Cryogenic valve manufacturers
Cryogenic valves are designed for handling liquefied gases at extremely low temperatures, typically below –100 °C, such as liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, and LNG. The materials, stem extension, and internal clearances are selected to maintain sealing integrity and prevent embrittlement or sticking as the valve becomes cold. The extended bonnet design creates a warm vapor column that keeps the stem packing above the frost line.
These valves are available in globe, gate, ball, and butterfly configurations and can be manually operated or automated with pneumatic or electric actuators. Seat and seal materials are chosen for low-temperature flexibility and compatibility with the specific cryogenic media. Valve bodies are generally stainless steel or nickel-based alloys to ensure toughness and resistance to thermal shock.
Cryogenic valves are used in air separation plants, LNG handling and storage systems, cryogenic pump lines, research facilities, and gas distribution networks. Proper selection considers thermal contraction, venting requirements, insulation clearances, and operational cycling to ensure reliable sealing and safe long-term performance at low temperature conditions.
