Choke valve manufacturers
Choke valves are used to control flow rate and pressure drop in high-pressure production and injection systems. The throttling element (often a sleeve, plug, or cage assembly) restricts flow through a calibrated orifice, allowing controlled pressure reduction without full closure. Because the valve operates under a continuous pressure differential, the trim is designed to resist erosion, cavitation, and vibration.
Choke valves are most commonly used in oil and gas wellheads, Christmas trees, test manifolds, and production flowlines to regulate well flow and stabilize downstream processing conditions. They are available in fixed-orifice and adjustable designs, with manual or automated actuation depending on well control requirements and operating strategy.
Trim materials and internal geometry are selected based on gas-to-liquid ratio, sand or particulate content, flow velocity, and expected pressure drop. High-performance chokes may use hardened metals, tungsten carbide, or ceramic inserts to maintain service life in erosive applications. Proper sizing considers process stability, noise control, and erosion rate to ensure predictable performance over the expected operating range.
