Check valve manufacturers
Check valves allow flow in one direction and automatically prevent reverse flow when the downstream pressure exceeds the upstream pressure. The closing element (disc, ball, swing plate, or piston) moves in response to pressure differential, which means no external actuation is required. This protects pumps, compressors, instrumentation, and process lines from pressure surges and backflow.
They are available in several internal configurations, including swing check, lift check, ball check, and axial (silent) check designs. Each style has different characteristics related to opening pressure, response speed, and pressure drop. Material and seat selection depends on media properties, temperature, and pressure rating.
Check valves are used in water distribution, pump discharge lines, compressed air networks, chemical processing, steam systems, and general industrial piping. Proper sizing considers orientation, cracking pressure, flow velocity, and the potential for water hammer, especially in systems with rapid flow changes.
